I can recommend NW too. In fact in about 12 years of contracting, I've had four accountants (mostly large contractor specialists). Nixon Williams are the best I've had by quite some margin. Everything for me has been accurate, prompt and efficient. I can't comment on SJD as I've not dealt with them.Comment

Ah but, there is another consideration...
Hector has started a programme of checking business records, to see if they are fit for purpose. The thought occurs that if I have a spreadsheet shwoing details of my expenditure and income tha reconciles precisely to my bankl statements, am I in a better position should Hector turn up than someone who can only show them a pile of random papers and the accountant's email address?
Just a thought....Blog? What blog...?Comment

I’ve just had a visit from a VAT lady to go over my accounts. She said it would take most of the day. I got a call from her 1½ hours later as she was leaving, saying everything was in order and said it was unusual to find accounts in such good order. She said your accountant keeps your records in an excellent state.
Spreadsheets have their uses, but if not used correctly they may not stand up to scrutiny if HMRC ask too many questions.

From experience, we have taken on some new clients who have used spreadsheets and when we have asked them what a certain item is, they have no idea and believe it or not, neither does the old accountant.

NW were on my shortlist, but they charged extra for anything non-standard and I felt more like a number - so I ended up going with Intouch for those reasons and have been very happy; NW get decent feedback on here regularly though.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
