    Hi all
I am new to contracting and shortlisted Dynamo/Gorilla/ Dolan accountants. Would appreciate if someone could help me to take the appropriate decision on who to go with. Spoken to Dynamo and seemed to be good. Dolan and Dynamo allow Free Registered and service office use, Gorilla don't. Dynamo provides informal Ir35 review, Dolan unlimited IR35 Status Reviews, Gorilla no IR35 review. Dynamo are chartered accountants etc. So confused and would appteciate an opinion.

I'm looking (in advance) for a firm that would do my self assessment for 18/19 now I've left the UK (I liquidated my company prior to leaving). I was with Crunch when operating the company, however, after closing my account they said they couldn't do my self assessments (gee, thanks!). I expect mine will be a little more complicated than usual - I will be looking to claim entrepreneurs relief on company distributions and also a spit tax year in order to avoid double taxation stuff. Can anyone recommend an accountant that would do this as a once off?

        Any opinion anyone?

I can't comment on Dynamo as I don't know anyone who works there or uses them.

Registering address costs peanuts in the Greater scheme and personally Id never use my accountants for an IR35 review. I use QDOS but there are other specialists out there like Baur and Cottrell etc. They also offer insurances as well.

If you take the reviews and the address out of the equation I'd say there is nothing else in it between Dolan and Gorilla. I'm with Gorilla and happy with them but Dolan is owned by Simon Dolan who also started up SJD who were the biggest contractor account in its day. He certainly knows his stuff so you'll get all you need there as well.

Unless you can think of some other factor that is important to you I'd say you've a coin toss choice there and whoever wins will be everything you need.

            Nomad friendly UK accountant

Hi - I'm looking for a nomad friendly UK based accountant. We're 2 directors and 1 staff member of a UK Limited Company.

The accountants we've spoke to so far have been decent, but they've not been able to navigate around the fact that we move for short term contracts resulting in paying huge air bnb fees. We have no perm residence, and even though we've been required to move for a contract, many are reticent to advise on rental costs.

            All recommendations are appreciated.

            Thanks

Surely if you move to live near a contract coupled with the fact you have no permanent home then every place you go is home so only expenses between client and where you are staying. You are effectively moving house for every gig?

Why not post your question in the accounting section and see what kind of replies you get.

My company hasn’t been trading and the business account closed since early 2017, essentially dormant. How much would you expect an accountant to charge to create company accounts / CT600 ( with not a lot of info!). Been trying to close company but have a few complications...

Dunno, isn't it about 120 quid for a SA so around that? Could you start a new thread with questions rather than taking this one off topic please.

The phrase "essentially dormant" but then "a few complications" make this impossible to answer I'm afraid!

If it was fully dormant, you could probably get away without a CT return, just do some dormant accounts if it's a long time since the last set.

What does the balance sheet look like? Eg are there multiple assets? Have liabilities been cleared? What's the total net asset position?

In terms of a fair fee, anywhere from a couple of hundred quid if you just need some dormant accounts and help with a DS01. If there are multiple accounting/tax complications to resolve, and possibly you then may want a formal liquidation if net assets are high, then a couple of grand for all that.

...but yeah, as NLUK said, this post doesn't belong in this thread (which is seemingly now just for one post wonders to tell us they're going with Gorilla ), maybe a mod can move it out?

                      New Accountant

I had a read of this thread as I am looking for a new accountant. My current accountants used to be good but recently have started to hire graduates and I find mistakes in my accounts and therefore I need to keep a close eye on them.

I also have a property business and I provide a spreadsheet to my current accountants and these get included into my self assessment each year.
I currently don't get charged anything extra as there isn't much effort involved.

                      Gorrilla Accountants

I had an initial discussion, not with the actual accountant but the front desk. Everything was fine but they wanted to charge me £45/property which I found to be excessive, especially when they only have to read a spreadsheet. When I queried this they offered £40/property. As my business grows then so would the charges so this was a no go.

                      BI Accountancy

I had a 20min discussion with the actual accountant. It went well. We talked about the service they provide and how I would transfer my company and Freeagent way of working. My self assessment is included in the price and no extra charge for my property business. My only slight concern is that it's a only been around for 2 years.

Would any current BI Accountancy clients like to comment on the experience level of BI Accountants? Does everything get completed on time?

                      Thanks
