I would just like to add that if you are waiting for accounts preparation at Upton, you could be in for a wait. Basically I have been told at least 2 and half months. Now if you had been waiting already a month, then thats alot of time, and remember the corp tax needs to be paid by the end of december. So is it worth waiting another 2.5 months, to find out that they still haven't been done and you may need to wait longer? Also, assuming they don't go out of business, which they could choose to do if things get a bit hairy for them? I don't like leaving things to the last minute, and I don't think its fair that you or your accountant do this. I also don't like risk and this is a risk. Thus I am going to find someone else to do them asap.

    Just my personal opinion.

If anyone has any accountancy recommends, please PM me with the details.

    Thx

I'm not going to go into details so don't ask but I'd strongly advise keeping everything to do with NW in email or old fashioned letter. A phone call is difficult to prove.

Ok this explains why we need to be nicer to those with accountants.

          Advice please

I would really appreciate some advice, I have just completed my first year of contracting and uptons have filed my company house returns. My company account and corp. tax needs to be filed, I'm wondering if its good idea to switch to a new accountant now or let them do my account and then move.

Please PM me recommendation of good accountants.

          Regards,

          Sam

Personally I don't like the fact that they have registered a new company, at the same address, with a new domain name, the director is a lady who worked at Upton & co, have the same website; to me, this suggests that they don't see a future for Upton & Co.

The most important deadlines are your accounts and CT600 submission, both of which will generate a modest fine if late. Late payment of your corp tax itself will just cost you interest, which is very low, so don't stress as much about that one.

Likely to be trying to dump a toxic brand which is what Upton seems to be now. A bit like News International ditching NOTW and doubtless replacing it with The Sunday Sun or something similar.

I'm surprised no enterprising accountants have been peppering these boards with adverts trying to pick up the many dissatisfied Upton clients, tbh.

That "lady" is Tina Upton I believe? If so that is Darren's wife who has also taken over as Director (formally Company Secretary I believe) of Upton & Co in her husband's...absence.
