Clear sky are quite expensive, I think they charge £140 per month, there are other out there, just spend sometime to find one that suits you. I use Nixon Williams at £75 per month."The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." CiceroComment

I did get rung up by a former upton's employee last week to be told that Darren's wife had now taken over Uptons and that all the staff had handed in their notice. The former employee has sent me details on the new firm he has moved to but if anyone has any other recommendations (especially one that can handle my plan B stuff as well as the contracting) then please drop me a PM (I have a list of accountants previously recommended from people here but personal recommendations are always good). I have procrastinated in looking for a new accountant for the past few weeks due to being busy with the plan B stuffs.
It is a pity that this has all blown up as it seems as though Uptons was highly respected for a number of years and often got highly recommended on here. I might have to redo my pcg membership as well at this rate.Last edited by bassy; 8 August 2011, 13:58.Comment

I have heard that by the end of the month all the old staff will be gone. There are no new staff as yet other than a freelance accountant (hmmm what is Darren's title now on Linkedin ;-) ). Can there be any guaranteed level of service under such conditions, I'm not getting any reassurances. About time for a statement from Upton's/Freedom Accountants?Last edited by Bagpuss; 9 August 2011, 10:11.The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

Just got off the phone with the ACCA and they have confirmed that Darren J Upton of Wakefield is still a registered member. They advised me that complaints can be lodged here: http://www2.accaglobal.com/members/p...ds/complaints/
Adding that to my ToDo list.Comment
