    PCG and Qdos TLC35

Hi, I have been contracting for 3 years and has PCG plus membership almost from the begining but last year I also bought TLC35 (have renewed again this year) thinking that I will get rid of PCG plus membership but to my disappointment it automatically got renewed and I took no further action.

Time has come to either cancel PCG plus membership or pay again for one more year, so I thought I might ask for inputs if there is any advantage in keeping PCG plus membership as well at the same time having TLC35. please advice.

    Thanks,

Nor can I. You don't need TLC35 I assume you know you can get the same cover as TLC35 for potetnial tax liabilities via AbbeyTax under PCG Plus. And PCG is about a lot more than IR35 insurance (for example, Plus covers you for any tax inquiries, not just IR35 ones, plus your agency defaulting on payments, Jury Service cover...)

      But I would say that, wouldn't I...

Are you sure it's the "same cover"?

How much does the liability cover through the PCG cost?

Our policies also cover any tax enquiries, thanks.

We also do Jury Service cover (£500 per day)

Please ensure you know exactly how our services work and what they cover before you advise people that they don't need them.

Phone the office and speak to Mandie. But it might help to remember that PCG is not an insurance company: they don't do PI cover

No offence meant, but did you spot the smilies....?

The two are utterly different organisations: QDOS is a commercial company selling insurance products and related support activities, PCG is a not-for-profit member-led organisation working on being the voice of the freelance and offering a range of member-only benefits, one of which is PEI. You can't compare them either as organisations or as providers.

I'm not having a pop at QDOS, who do what they say on the tin, but at people who are too lazy to work out that QDOS and PCG are not competitors.

Yes, I spotted the smilies but your post could be a bit misleading.

Of course Qdos and the PCG are not directly comparable as complete entities, but there's obviously a bit of crossover and most people who come on forums tend to ask about the things we both deal with. Even though the PCG use third parties, it does all fall under the PCG banner.

For what it's worth, I think we do a bit more than what it says on the tin and I'm sure plenty of contractors who have used us can testify to that.

The do offer it in one of their startup packages.

That is why I was asking about it, was trying to see if I could unbundle it.

I am very lazy with my PI and currently let the agency take it from me for £10 a week.
