I would talk to your boss.

In your contract it will say something like the company you work for can get rid of you when they like or within x weeks.

Just tell him/her the situation and he she can terminate your contract. Job done.

And when he/she asks why - tell the truth. After all the boss NEEDS someone who wants work there - they cant make you.

Yes I thought about that but they want a start date within 7 days, I have a 4 weeks termination period wich I gave them last week as I was miserable int he job. They have 1 week termination notice clause.. Even that wouldnt be enough to get me the new position. I would need to finish within the next couple of days. Ive thought about going sick but Not sure about overlapping contracts from my Umbrella companys perspective. I will be ringing them tomorrow..

And if the boss says "You cannot resign right now as you please, you have an obligation to work your 1 month notice" reply with "Whaaat ? I can stand on the desk and p*** on your face !!!!".

Then watch yourself leave the building under escort by two security gorillas. Job done.

You haven't told us what your notice period is. If you are on a day either way then fine. If you are on a one or three monther they could be particuliarly unhappy.

think like a contractor, put an advert on jobserve for "immediate start.. blah blah" once u have a decent candidate inform your current client that you are no longer available and have been dragged off to another project and that you would like to enforce your right of substitution as detailed in your contract.. it IS in your contract right? client co will either accept it in which case bonus you make a little extra money after paying the stand in, if not they can terminate your contract immediately if they're not happy.

FFS - are there no contractors left on this site????? Your job is working either for yourself or for an umbrella, not for the client. You have no boss.

That aside - speak to whoever your primary contact is on client site (your "boss"?) and explain the situation. If necessary, offer some freebie time on the phone to help your replacement if they need it. If you know someone else who can do your role, get them in instead.

Now starting thinking and acting like a contractor.
