The answer to your question can be found within these boards, and some of it is because I put it there, as have many other people.

But just to save you some time, the usual suspects are SJD, Nixon Williams and Darren Upton (other equally competent accountants are available), all of whom post on here regularly. Snag is, you will find people both praising and complaining about all of them in roughly equal numbers.

You can also take a look at the PCG website (www.pcg.org.uk) where there is a list of Accredited Accountants who will know all about freelance contracting as a business. There's even a postcode search in case you feel a burning desire to meet them face-to-face (although, after 15 years, I am yet to meet my accountant face-to-face...)

So try looking first, then ask for opinions on your results.

That is very kind. I guessed that would be the case with the accountants. After searching Google I have seen various reviews of different Accountants. I will have a look at the ones you have listed.

Find someone local to you who specialises in IT contractor specifics. Lots of postings already around on this. Good luck.

I just pointed you at a list of 75 ranging from big corporate to one man companies, all of whom know more about your business than you ever will. How many do you need...?

I use accountsNet (www.accountsnet.co.uk).

Their online system is pretty good and their personal service is second to none. I have never had to wait longer than a day for a response to a query and they are very good at hand holding and explaining things in easy to understand terms. Price isn't too bad either.
