just wondered if anyone had contacted the press around Gauke.. or that matter if anyone thinks its newsworthy or worthwhile to do so ... a smallish story at the moment .. in terms of people involved but moreover a story which does perhaps define how MP's operate.. say one thing at one time.. and then do something different....

ignore the legality which is baffling to most..theres a number of issues over honesty which need addressing too

understood there's probably a due course to be run now one way or another but would this be of use?

I think it's not only highly likely but also unavoidable given what we're up against.

This is why I am cautioning against being overly optimistic about our chances in November.

I'm sure we'd get a lot of support in Parliament if HMRC tried to enforce collection while we were appealing to Europe.

I would certainly hope so, since our MPs have been consistently saying "we can't do anything about this while it's going through the courts".

Also remember there is a separate process HMRC would need to go through, to discharge the appeals of our Closure Notices, before they could issue demands, so we would get plenty of warning of their intentions.

Take a look at posts #1586 and #1587 on this thread. They are too long to print on one post here and I couldn't get a link.

This was a letter sent to Gauke, Zac Goldsmith and my local MP dated 7 July. I am still waiting for a reply.

My letter was very similar. I copied gauke's comments to my MP and asked him to ask gauke. We'll see if I get any response. Fingers crossed!

Did the same thing a couple of days ago. The way this is going he'll be preparing another standard reply. Still, worth stirring things up.

Enforce Collection

Should we lose in the COA I think the next step would be the Supreme Court, surely HMRC will wait until the outcome of that, so that should give us at least a year.

Keeping my fingers crossed that we will win in the COA and with a bit of support from this government it will finish there.
