You can avoid that by doing a bit of research first.
This is the best bit of advice from Brillo I have seen in a bit. You would be very wise to take it or risk a mauling. This is a contractors forum not an easy get out for the lazy.

Reason: ok ok it was a bit harsh

I was pushed to use them by my agency as they said they would not use my previous brolly (Parasol) due to some sort of compliance issue. There's actually some connection between the agency and the brolly - I did a bit of digging on Companies House and there's common directors.....surely a bit dodgy but who am I to say. Also strangely, I think the guy that sent me the email used to work at Parasol too, it's a familiar name anyway. It seems the brolly business is a bit incestuous!
If Parasol have compliance issues I would be very surprised indeed, as would Rob Crossland, their CEO. He would be interested in hearing more, I have no doubt.
Secondly this is very dodgy ground for the agency: forcing you to use an attached umbrella is equivalent to charging you for work finding which is illegal under the Agency Regs. If you fancy a fight, report them to DBERR. If you're in the PCG (and if not, why not... ) they may well be very interested as well.
If you are going Limited for the December contract; it's probably time to start by incorporating the company now.
The Incorporations have a quick turnaround, some as quickly as 4-6 hours.
However, I know that currently our VAT and PAYE applications are slow, not to mention Bank account applications that are postal ones. It's probably just due to the postal back log.
As for Parasol and compliance, all I was told was it was something to do with the opt out. I didn't question it and the transfer to *********umbrella was pretty easy. The cost was the same, and the only change was that I didn't have to do Parasol timesheets - the new brolly used the agency timesheets. Took a while to get my P45 but that was it.
And as for Brillo Pad's comments, well, the main reason I decided to kick brollies into touch and go limited was the generous and helpful information I gleaned from searching this forum!

Right, I've been thinking about this one and I've tried all sorts of calculations and the only way I can see of getting and 85% return from a brolly is by spending about half of my payment each week and claimning it as an expense!
For example (and I'm using round figures to make it easy and the calculation is off contractorcalculator) if my rate was £200 per day I'd need to be able to claim £100 per day in expenses to get anywhere near 85%!!!!!
Anyone got any idea how they can advertise this? If I thought I could actually get 85% off them I'd be on the phone straight away and kick the Ltd into touch!
