    Performing Rights Society - letter

I received a letter today from the PRS, I presume they are just junk lettering everyone they can these days with the recession. It has a nice paragraph in it saying that if I ring them up to tell them that I don't listen to music ('cos I don't work from home) then they will leave me alone.

My question is, is that true, or will they take it as an excuse to start hassling me - like TV licensing do if you say you don't have a TV?

ps I don't want to get into a debate about the merits of the PRS, there are other threads about that!

TV licence is a bit different though isn't it? It's pretty weird in this day and age for you to not have a TV or other method of receiving a signal at a household so if you say no your either lying or one of a very very small percentage so well worth keeping tabs on.

Doing a quick sweep of all companies by the PRS on the offchance you wern't aware of the laws but now you are and if it doesn't cover you so help us cut down the work by saying you don't have one is slightly different. Your more likely to be in the majority not having one so why would they spend extra effort and time chasing the majority.

I would tick it and send it off personally. Your on their radar as it is so can't do any harm IMO

We aren't supposed to listen to music these days? Are the PRS a branch of the Taliban?

Does that mean I can phone them up and get them to sue those b* young blokes who drive around with car window open and rap music blaring out?
