Because if you work through an agency, you can't be a sole trader (self-employed), and your only other choice is to go ltd.

I agree going limited is the option. But my point is that, we are paying umbrella companies to maintian/verify all our reciepts as well. But by agreeing dispensation they are not doing thier duty.

Is dispensation is of any use to me as contractor ? see this wiki link on umbrella company dispensation:

No, the brolly having a dispensation is not really of any use to you. Except you don't have the "hassle" of having to provide them with receipts.

Ya you are right.. why do they charge so much then.. ? (average 100 pound a month) If they do just accounting work (calculate my tax) a software would cost me 50 pound a year ... I mean all those brollys.. are making lot of money by fooling us.. are there any genuine ones out there ?

IF you're paying twenty five pounds AFTER tax then you're being a mug.

The very point I am paying them for ?
The point is, you agreed to their terms and conditions. If you dont like it, find a brolly that doesnt make you pay for such things! If you can!

Otherwise, go ltd and shut the **** up!
