The amount of insurance you need is dependant on what sort of business you do, but as to reasonable priced suppliers Farmer has posted two good ones.

Upto £5m is more than enough.

In reality, you dont need PI or PA although some reckon its a pointer for outside IR35 (as if!) and does give peace of mind.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

Although the contract might stipulate it.

All the ones that I have done have required £1M PI to be in place.

just a side question but does anyone actually have employers liability insurance???
I don't have at the moment, but i don't start my contract until next wednesday. To be honest if I don't have to I won't.

It used to be compulsary to have it but this requirement was waived a year or so ago for one-person limited companies where the one person owns at least 50% of the shares IIRC.

Having said that, the cost is not normally very high so I kept renewing it.
