    Yes, if its a requirement of the contract then you have to have it. In my experience, they will normally state a minimum cover of £x million is required and they want you to send in a copy of your certificate.

    It used to be compulsary to have it but this requirement was waived a year or so ago for one-person limited companies where the one person owns at least 50% of the shares IIRC.

    Having said that, the cost is not normally very high so I kept renewing it.
