Paying full-whack German tax doesn't bear thinking about. Using an offshore scheme could get you into trouble.
That might work for the short term, but if he were to be there for over a year then that might get him into trouble also! A contractor who I worked with in Spain used his ltd for 3 years doing just like you said and Spain never knew he was there. On the other hand Spain is not Germany and it seems the crowts are highly motivated to get their tax from contractors.

I would not use my UK ltd and would do it proper in Germany if you are going to be there for more than 180 days. But then again I would not go to germany!

If you have permanent (i.e. non hotel) accomodation in Germany then you have to register as a resident. If you are tax resident then you need to pay your taxes in Germany. That is the law. You can choose to ignore it but I wouldn't call that the best option.

Also, if you are married you can be assesed for tax as a couple, and if your wife earns much less than you then you may in fact be better off paying German tax.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

        Do not come here

I have spent 10 years here in Germany. The place and people are great. The justice and system and Finanzamt does not seem to have moved on from the early 1940's. My lawyer says he knows I used Mr H and P@@ as advised and did not act with criminal intent. Even so he recommends pleading guilty and getting a criminal record rather than risking the possibility of prison. I know of people in New Zealand the USA and UK being chased. The best thing to do is not to deal with these people at all.

Germans are NOT to be trusted. Their words not mine! Do you think they are stupid? This is a game that has been played in Germany since the 1970's and ALL the Germans involed in this are FULLY aware of what is going on... FAmt, CC's, Agents the lot...

It's all a Set-Up. After you get busted they'll get the next Tommy Sucker to replace you!

Don't call me a "Troll", that is the TRUTH!

Why do you think they don't close the Loop-Hole?
It suits them to continue in this way...

This is a great post however now i am in a situation myself and would like those who have experience of the below to let me know how is the best way to deal with it.

I shall shortly be contracting for a German IT company. I have gone through the trade union or workers council in Germany which have given their approval.

My agent in the UK which has secured the contract for me has suggested I use a firm called Consort Consulting however looking on this site some people have recommended CPM?

I was wondering whether anyone has experienced using CPM and how their service is. Do they obtain your freelance status or are they the equivalent to a management company in the UK as it appears they also provide a tax service?

The contract shall be for four years and there is so much information out here that i am unsure which is the best route to take.

I shall be running a second home from the UK which to my understanding from reading this post means that i can claim rent whilst out in Germany.

In summary would appreciate your feedback on services to use out there to reduce the hassle, stress and get the most out of it whilst be fully compliant

              my circumstances are....
              4yr contract
450 euros a day on a german contract with a german employer
uk home shall still be operating

Appreciate your feeedback and look forward to your replies.....

Find a reputable German accountant and set yourself up as a freelancer. You may be able to claim travel expenses from your home in the UK.

Wait until you get to German and ask German colleagues advice. If they can't advise, just get someone to find a local accountant from the phone book (a relatively large one preferable with IT consultants on his books), as long as he's a registered tax advisor you will be OK.

Don't tax yourself in the UK, that won't work if the contract runs longer than 6 months and you may end up paying German tax plus penalties if they catch you.
              I'm alright Jack
