    christmas party expenses

I understand that I can hold a company party and invite one guest and so long as I spend less than 300 quid in total (150 for me and 150 for my guest) i can claim this as a business expense.
    Is that right?
What form does this party need to take?
Can I go out for dinner to a posh restaurant?
Can I just go down to Sainsburys and buy £299.99 worth of booze nibbles and have a "xmas party" at home?

At what point does it become taking the p!ss?

    Correct.

You can have the 'party' in any form you want ie meal, drinking session, a spanking etc, etc.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

Don't think it would ever be classe as taking the piss as if you spend more than 150 a head then the total amount becomes a benefit in kind and you pay tax on it....

In the past we have done restaurant, casino, comedy club, pub & bowling with no problems.

would that not seem obvious as taking the mick?

How does one get say a resturant bill for 4 people to show it has a greedy pig just for 1? (as most bills are printed these days).....

Guest - you sure? i thought theparty allowance was for directors and secretary only?

Its actually an event per year, not just a Christmas party meaning you could have more than one event per year.

I believe its one guest per employed person and each can spend up to £150, anything over £150 each and the whole thing becomes a BIK.

I'm thinking of buying tickets for F1 or touring cars this year.

One question I have is the £150 including or excluding VAT?

Party allowance is £150 per head for all attendees, as long as all employees are invited.

If you invite guests (e.g. employees spouses / kids / milkmen) then they are included in the £150 per head.

To clarify - the allowance per employee is £150, the employee is allowed to bring one guest, and they also have an allowance of £150. So if you and the missus go out you have £300 between you.

Ok, I may be a bit thick, but given that my wife is CoSec and administrator does that mean I can have 4 people: me + guest, wife + guest?
