Out of interest, is anybody contesting "discovery"? I'm not affected but did get stiched up by "discovery" some years ago.

          Deadlines

Apologies if this is already clear to everybody, but could someone tell me the various deadlines between the new legislation, initial 'investigation' letter and CNs? I just want to check they weren't too late on something.

You are the collective glue that has forged and bound this community and given us all a sense of purpose and hope.

I, like many, have written to my MP (conservative – “…..sympathy, sympathy but I do not condone tax avoidance blah blah blah”) and signed the petition and both tasks went some way to making me feel like I have a little control over my destiny but I like many, would probably not have done this had you not got off your bums and got organised. I’m sure were it not for this forum, we would all still be floundering in isolation awaiting the inevitable.

Whatever the final outcome, the mobilisation of effort, information and support has been quite remarkable.

If I could find a ‘hats off’ smilie, I’d paste it here
Hi Wildebeest. Welcome to the forum and thanks for delurking. We've known for a while there have been many lurkers and there's no doubt that the wider spread of contributors to the thread provides support to all of us. The larger our group the stronger we are so thanks for popping out of the trench.

My question: I have yet to recieve any form of closure notice yet several friends of mine have. So, If I haven't received a Closure Notice how can I possibly stand a chance of settling the score with HMRC...Not that I want to mind. Bunch of robbers.....

Sorry if this is the thousandth time this has been asked but would appreciate a response.

Much congrats to MP and the QC job well done and keep it going...
Hi RichardSplash. Two new posters in a day. It doesn't get better. Welcome to the BN66 thread and thank you for making yourself known.

Tuesday was one step along a long road that gets easier with support. It was the right result and as you can see from the forum has given true encouragement to a large group of people.

              Thanks for joining us.

                Big ask

If there is anyone out there who has had their returns accepted and closed by HMRC, would you be willing to come forward?

I can understand why people would be reticent about revealing this for fear of attracting unwanted attention from HMRC but you would be helping the cause immeasurably.

The Suo Motu settlement in 2003 goes some way to showing inconsistency but the more ammunition we can gather for our legals the better.

                Thanks!

Good luck with it. When I had a full investigation I changed advisers part way though it, the new one was absolutely scathing the the previous one had accepted the opening of earlier ones - his view was there was no discovery. But, by then it was too late.

Thxs ....there is no new discovery - everything on the returns so theyve no legs to stand on - even had it confirmed by an independent tax consultant .. have appealled so will see... will all come out in the wash when this thing reaches its conclusion!!

have you double checked with MontP that, as your agents, they have not received the notices as your agent - as I am not sure i have seen any for a good few years but think they have proably just gone straight to them instead.......
