BN66 - Time to fight back (Chapter 3)

I was going to give them 30 days to reply, since thats the amount of time
the revenue seems to give me to do things. The letter my MP sent to the
treasury was dated 28 February so that's about now.

I'm hoping to get this in before the JR appeal so they can't use the pending
legal action excuse.

Speaking of the JR, has anybody got any further clue as to when the oral submission to grant the JR will take place?

Any theories as to what they are up to? The only explanations I can think of are:

1) they have parked this until after the budget is out of the way

2) they are waiting to see if the JR gets the go-ahead. If it does, then they may respond saying they can't comment because it's now in the hands of the courts

The question is how long to give them before we start chasing?

I'm not sure which, but looks to me as if they are waiting for a decision to be made before they proceed with their next steps. My gut feel is that they are waiting to see if the JR gets the go ahead, if so their case is very weak and they'll need to be putting plan B into action e.g. delay tactics. If the JR does not get approved then I think we can expect some aggressive tactics from them.

Chase up letter

If you are sending you are own, then as well as asking the MP to chase them, you might want to include this:

If the Treasury are not able to respond forthwith, please can you ask for an explanation as to why not.

just got a reply from my MP, quite a positive response for a Labour MP:

"Thank you for your most recent letter about the problems caused by section 58 of the finance act.

I am very sorry to hear about the problems in your personal life caused by the stress of dealing with the implications of this legislation. I am concerned about the effects on ordinary families of the retrospective application of tax and interest penalties which you mentioned.

I have therefore written again toe the chancellor about this matter to highlight your situation as an example of the unintended effects this legislation is having. I will be back in touch with you when I hear back from them."

Interesting even a Labour MP is using the word RETROSPECTIVE, I always thought the government termed it as clarify?
