Does anyone have Peter Mandelson or Kenneth Clarke as their MP? They are the Minister for Business and Shadow Minister for Business. Has anyone written to them? Had a reply?

Our issues may relate to personal tax returns but underlying this we are in business. Retrospective changes in tax laws undermines business confidence in UK plc and reduces the nation's competitiveness. It should be of interest to them.

sadly he doesnt have a strong record for replies

      wait n see i guess
I sent him a letter last year and still no response. I'm considering
arranging a meeting with him to explain the situation face to face.
He seems distracted by his foreign affairs role....

        Over 100 letters

We passed the 100 mark yesterday, and that doesn't include where people have forwarded the letter on to others.

Even if you wrote last year, please write again.

        Keep 'em coming!!!

Lord Mandelson is no longer an MP; he's a peer of the realm these days.

Thought it was about time to show face as i've been lurking for months now.

Been in the MP scheme since 2002/2003 and stand to lose house and all if we don't win.

Haven't had any CN's yet, however, I have only just forwarded details of accounts to HMRC as of yesterday.

I have always been advised by MP that whilst HMRC were likely to close the scheme at some point, there was no chance that they could ever make it retrospective, however, here we are.

Was getting fairly suicidal about it all until I was pointed in the direction of this group, which has helped me immensely.

Refusal of JR was a big blow, however, I will request the letter today and duly send on to my MP ( he is Labour though).

It seems a few people have carried a lot of work and research in here, which, when we win, will be to the benefit of all, so thanks to those concerned.

Keeping fingers crossed that the JR appeal is successful.

Many thanks for delurking and a very good opening post

And very well done for sending letter to your MP.

Just in case you get upset again : please just PM DR or myself. Remember that HMRC read this forum and we dont want any comments to cheer them up! I know from my ex-wife that HMRC love bullying/torturing people : a suicide would make their day.

You might not be able to PM at first : but you can either contact admin or put a message up here and I will ask them for you.

Just sent mine off to Lynne Featherstone (LibDem), opted for email as she is very proactive and uses email for a lot of her communications and campaigning. Here's hoping that she responds favourably.

MPs that don't respond may start to be more pro-active as a result of yesterday's news. Labour MP being sued for laziness!

It's a complete waste of time

I know that's what some of you out there are thinking. Just leave it to Monpelier and the courts.

                      Montpelier know best, right?

Well, why don't you contact Montpelier, tell them that you are thinking of writing to your MP, and see what they have to say about it?

Then email me and send the letter!!!
