Hi Brillo, I joined up with the scheme in July 2002 and am still a Montpelier client now. I've received CNs for each year 2002-2007, all of which have been appealed by Montpelier, so have a lot of money tied up in the results of this business.
After getting the first CN, did you consider not using Montpelier?
Dr, yes of course I meant Tory and Libdem. I still think if anyone here has David Davis as his MP it will be worth a more extensive letter stating how our basic rights have been violated by HMRC and this government. A question in the house from someone so high profile might be useful
Thought it was about time to show face as i've been lurking for months now.
Been in the MP scheme since 2002/2003 and stand to lose house and all if we don't win.
Haven't had any CN's yet, however, I have only just forwarded details of accounts to HMRC as of yesterday.
I have always been advised by MP that whilst HMRC were likely to close the scheme at some point, there was no chance that they could ever make it retrospective, however, here we are.
Was getting fairly suicidal about it all until I was pointed in the direction of this group, which has helped me immensely.
Refusal of JR was a big blow, however, I will request the letter today and duly send on to my MP ( he is Labour though).
It seems a few people have carried a lot of work and research in here, which, when we win, will be to the benefit of all, so thanks to those concerned.
Keeping fingers crossed that the JR appeal is successful.
All the CNs are arriving now, even for income earned up to 8 years ago.
Unless you've got a time machine like HMRC, there is no possibility to change your mind about using the scheme.
I'm wondering if the original mail meant to ask why continue with MTM after the first notice that HMRC were investigating the individual's tax return (for 2002-03?)

An investigation doesnt mean the taxpayer has done anything wrong.
It is up to HMRC to change the law.

sent my letter off to Edward Davey MP through "they work for you" i highlighted the fact that the "only" reason im in this situation is because of my IR35 Audit.
sadly he doesnt have a strong record for replies
wait n see i guess

As DR has pointed out, this has a much bigger impact than something electronic, which can be deleted at the click of a mouse.
