Pre Budget Report
Has anybody given the Pre Budget Report the once over.
A colleague mentioned that there was something in there about the postponement of the Double Taxation enquiry.
He also mentioned that this was because the HMRC were under resourced and had other things to concentrate on.
Also heard the HMRC were giving all their contract staff notice to quit.Comment

Welcome to our forum!
I just searched this full commentary on the pre-budget report from Deloitte:

The only bit I can find on double taxation is to do with accounting practice regulations.'Orwell's 1984 was supposed to be a warning, not an instruction manual'. -

Has anyone considered . . . .
With talk of the PCG and seeing if they'll bat for our side, what's the general consensus on The Tax Payers Alliance ?
Would they be for or against the cause ?

The trouble with the PCG is that they see us as damaging the cause of genuine contractors. The funny thing is though that I've yet to meet one of these so-called genuine contractors. Everyone I've ever come across who has Incorporated has only done it for one reason ie. to pay less tax/nic. Same goes for income shifting.
As ASB pointed out in this post, if you organise your Ltd in the right way the net income is not much different to a scheme. Incorporation in the majority of cases is just a sham to avoid tax, and the Government knows this.

Despite this - if HMRC win then it may well open the floodgates to other retrospective legislation......
Anyone from this thread going to the cuk do on Friday?

With all the stress of all this mess and double taxation argy bargy, I can safely say that this is one of the best posts I have read!!
Like your style BarCapBoyz, I swear you made me actually laugh out loud. Im actually at a client site with one of your 'competitors'. But I swear if I was at Barcap, I reckon I would be laughing all day long!
Good one!
Thanks. Actually, we're all ex Barcap now.
One of the gang got his first letter of enquiry from HMRC last week.
As for separate logins thats up to the rest of the gang. If they de-lurk I'll change to a separate login of my own.Comment

I'm one of the BarCapBoyz gang of four(but haven't yet had any enquiry letter myself). Nice post on the PCG's usefulness - reminded me of our rants down the pub last week!
P.S. wouldn't bother changing your login nameComment
