    I think that's pretty clear.
I am not convinced as he did not mention retrospection.

I bet the Isle Of Man tourist board would like Douglas to be described as tropical!

His view on retrospection is what I'd like to hear. As I think we all
agree, there is no problem in changing the laws to close the gaps,
just don't use a time machine to back date things.

FWIW, my MP (should have by now) received the letter. However he's only this week responded to a letter I sent him almost a year ago about a different issue. He's not got a good track record on replying to me seeing as that's one reply to 5 letters over the last 2 years.

Also I don't hold out much hope for a reply becuase he's not that "family friendly" on expenses and tax, even though he's treasury. Oh and he claimed £150K of exes last year, which rankles me somewhat.
        "Israel, Palestine, Cats." He Said
        "See?"

I know what you mean, it makes me sick to the stomach to think I could be bankrupted to keep MP's in curtains and bath plugs for a year...

              Good spot.

The last couple of paragraphs look wrong.

I dont have time to put together a specific list of issues. If anyone feels strongly enough then I suggest PMing admin and let them sort it out.

I sent the Editor some info but didn't know they were actually going to publish an article. This is the first I've seen of it.

Whilst it's not 100% accurate, it's near enough and it includes a link to the Petition.

Anyone received a response from the Treasury?

We have had 2 responses to MPs letters over the past few days. No surprise, neither answered the questions which had been put, and both letters were just cut and paste jobs of previous BS that they sent out last year.

If anyone receives anything interesting let me know.

                  Thanks
                  DR

Yes he did. He mentioned it in his reply to one of his constituents.

" In response, it has now been concluded that the only way of dealing with a lot of these schemes is for tax to be paid retrospectively"

Which as well know is utter garbage. Which is par for the course for Cable; if you analyse what he says a lot of it is garbage. This garbage even contradicts his own party's position.

Still, let's face it; he aint on our side.

DR, in order to try and pre-empt this kind of reply why not send the cut and paste standard response in your first letter to MPs and tell them we already have this response and to specifically answer the questions, and/or take it up with the Treasury.
