Remember, the guy Jones behind this has a personal vendetta with Montpelier and WG in particular.

They were in court a couple of weeks back because Montpelier are still pursuing Jones for allegedly "stealing" the scheme.

Personally, I don't trust his motives.

Which are both excellent qualities considering the position we are in!

Can I ask you : it is the continual lieing, scheming and bullying by HMRC which brought you to where you are now?

if mp win will it mean hmrc were in receipt of information (ie mtm's client list) as a result of a criminal act?

Scepticism and cynicism are traits that serve one well in life, but whether he has a vendetta with MP or not does not alter the fact of whether his solution is a good one or not. One could slice it the other way; as he has a vendetta he may work even harder to make his solution work as it is aimed at putting the onus onto MP.

If it goes off half-cocked he has no clients AND looks like an arse in the eyes of his target. Plus of course being encumbered with the dissatisfaction of a failed vendetta.

I bet HMRC are very surprised about the reaction they have received after issuing their CN's. I bet they didnt expect pretty much everyone to appeal, and I bet they didnt factor on MP intervention and JR's etc...

I would put money on some top brass in HMRC Sh*ttin themselves right now, this is starting to unwind and I reckon their will be blood on someones hands and a few heads on the blocks...

i'd love to think this was true, and if we get the JR approved it probably will be, but we MUST get the JR approved first...

has the suomotu settlement documentation been forwarded to MP yet, did we get a reaction?

I have been lurking for a while, I was a member of 3 different IOM based schemes (2005-2008) (none were MP) and now signed up with Tim Warr after leaving the last one in late 2008.

You guys seem well supported by MP, which is more than I ca say for the ones I used. One even closed in March 2007 and gave us 4 weeks notice of this and then came back later in the year expecting us all to go back to them.

To date one scheme is under investigation but they went bust when they realised that they could be responsible for the tax of the scheme members.

I know another contractor who is trying to cut a deal with HMRC, but from what I can see they are not interested.
