VAT inspection

Had one years ago. Bloke just looked through sheets/receipts for about 20 minutes, said that looks fine and left. Hard to get VAT wrong really.

So that would be before the merger of HMIT and C&E and before the inspectors were re-briefed to consider any taxation to be in scope when performing compliance visits and to pass on any concerns they may have....?

Agree with what others are said. Surely if you're on flat rate there ain't going to be any receipts etc. anyway.
Bit hard to do wrong surely?

If VAT people came to see me it;d take about 10 mins....

Yes but...

They don't always stick to VAT questions. One wrong answer to something innocuous about your contracts or working practices and the wheels start turning...
