If the 'retrospection' gets Royal Assent everyone is shafted. How many people do you think will go to court. Will you take on HMRC in the courts? And what defence will you use? There is NO defence after it becomes law. Not only will you be liable for the tax and interest, but also HMRC's legal costs and your own legal costs. HMRC wont care if they have to take people to court - they know they will win and get their costs as well.

The Judicial Review is the only lifeline left (not quite sure if the Human Rights aspect is included in the JR or not, if not, then MontP could challenge using that I suppose). Lets wait for Thursdays meeting anyway.

Can't charge penalties as everything has been fully disclosed.

Not Tim Warr directly but buddies of his, Alan Jones and Giles Morris. Some of you may recognise the names from the early days of the scheme:

Ah yes - I remember now. Lots of posts on different related subjects. More montpelier threads needed? Possibly even its own forum?

yes remember them as being successfully sued by MTM as they were trying to nick the scheme.....quite amusing they are still looking to cash in but based on failure of the scheme they were trying to pinch....

Can they quantify any of their statements with cases where they have managed a successful settlement, or is it all hot air?

What was your response to these letters?
MTM prepared a letter in response which provided the information requested. At all times over the past 5 years, we have cooperated with the Special investigation unit and provided them everything they have asked for.

OK, not *everything* they wanted but at least all the information they asked for.

I promised my first born male to HMRC in order to prevent a perpetuation of the scheme as part of my legacy....

                      Beware of ir35amnesty

I would not recommend anyone using these guys. I suspect they only set up the website out of spite over the legal battle with MTM.

If you have to use a 3rd party, then at least Warr & Co are a reputable firm of accountants, although I don't approve of their method of getting business using scare tactics via an anonymous web site:
