    Accountant for Ltd company

    Hi,

I'm looking into the possibility of setting up a limited company and i was wanting some advice on choosing an accountant that would deal with everything. I have been recommended SJD but i was just wondering what accountants other people used and how they rate them??

    Cheers

Find a local accountant who you can visit regularly and build a relationship with.

I wouldn't recommend 'contractor specialist accountants' as they are just a conveyor belt service and you will be just a number to them. In my experience, the service you get from them is nothing to write home about.

            Just my 2p's worth.

Its an opinion I'm starting to share.... RW do you have to pay a local accountant any more comparatively?

The only caveat I'd offer is to be absolutely certain they understand the specific legislation applying to us OMBs and are keeping up to speed with the changes as they occur. The basic book-keeping is trivial, it's the details that catch you out.

                  No you don't.

I haven't experienced any advantage in respect to this when using the contractor accountants. I'm not saying there isn't any advantage, but I haven't experienced it. Furthermore, I haven't once had a conveyor belt accountant say to me 'This legislation has changed, you need to be aware. Btw, here's a tip to save some tax legally'. They generally stop being proactive once they tell you to take a low salary and the rest divvy.

That is based on my experience...

                    Happy with Nixon Williams.

                    But...

They keep noddying up my monthly profit/divi calculation. Once is excuseable but this has happened for me 4 times on the trot now. I know Alan watches this forum so I'm sure he will appreciate the feedback.
