I think this thread more than any other has convinced me that CUK is actually 4 or so (ageing) men, probably currently contracting in Germany and is nothing than a place for them to socialise and take the p*** out of newbies.
Newbie questions are a fact of life for a public forum and I don't understand why you guys can't except that. If it annoys you soo much, make it a private forum or something.
I understand Denny's point but its a bit like arguing with hormonal teenagers - little point.

Why should anyone help a newbie who is too lazy to help themselves? It's no better than a student trying to get others to do their coursework for free because they're too busy getting leathered down the pub.Comment

Who said newbie questions werent welcomed? Its lazy newbies wanting to get others to do research for them as the are to lazy that get the short shove. If you wish to do research for them.. you start a private forum, and we will send them all in your direction. And if you believe a post is abusive, use the report to mod button.Last edited by tay; 21 February 2008, 12:42.Comment

Fortunately, I do have the time to go through alot of threads and try and piece things together. But I still don't know what the best thing to do about pensions is. Previous posts are time-sensitive because of the changing legislation.
I actually look forward to newbie, basic posts because it can confirm my beliefs in how something works (again).
Stop picking on newbies!!!

And come to that, either I'm incredibly insensitive (stop sniggering at the back) but I've seen people be abrupt and impolite to newbies (and others) and I've only ever seen outright aggression between regulars or where a newbie has reacted badly to an initial - and usually relevant - answer and started it themselves.Blog? What blog...?Comment

thats still no justification. It assumes your reaction will some how 'fix' things going forward. Which of course it won't because it will be someone else who then asks the next stupid question....and round and round you go.
Believe or not, other forums have the same issue. The consensus seems to be, if you can't add anything constructive, don't respond.
I have to ask, does this forum really, really want to be a serious resource for new and existing contractors or more of a social forum for a few regulars - because thats how it looks from the outside.
