Also, life is not fair. I think General is a hell-hole and an unpleasant place for newbies. The only way to fix that is ban most of the people that post there ... which will leave no CUK.

BTW, did you really post a PM on a public forum? That's illegal.
My original thread wasn't about the General forum and I wouldn't expect that to be any different. I think it is gererally accepted on here that it is a place for fun and banter around non contractor issues. It was about the L/A and B/C sites which I thought was meant to be informative. Usually it is.

....and no I didn't post a PM on this forum.

As others have said - you can never have been a moderator.
I think you've missed the point entirely. The title 'moderator' implies that the role is about 'moderating' - toning down, correcting, removing posts or posters that don't abide by the rules examples I also quoted, in other words.

I fail to see how someone can justify calling themselves a moderator if they don't moderate by expecting people to abide by the forum rules, instead of doing nothing or little to calm things down, or by encouraging newbie baiting as Ferret seemed to be doing in the para I quoted at the beginning of this thread.

As I've said before I prefer a hands off approach, but sometimes it's a bit too hands off when newbies are clearly being discouraged from asking questions because they can't always expect answers to be given in a neutral and reasonable tone.

It was a quote by Ferret on the closing post of the last thread. Not a private PM. He never answered my PM by a private response. It was Ferret who misinterpreted my PM to him by extracting bits from it which is quoted at the beginning of this thread.

            Jeeez,

            Let it go already.

I'm not sure who the 'injured' party is as stated in the original somewhat pointless discussion. Ferret has stated the official view. Get over it please.

A/L is not the place for this carp. This thread more than any sets a bad example. C'mon Den, we all know it's a pointless discussion and anything more seems like trolling for the sake of it.

Nothing to see here... move along please...

My thread was about the CUK rules following on about how we should respond to newbies. The official response should be about upholding the rules about this, surely!

Nothing antagonistic or inflammatory about that at all. It's merely a topic for discussion posted on a site where I have seen a lot of uncalled for responses.

It's all the abuse that has followed on this and the first thread that has made these threads pointless, not me. Please don't blame me for the actions of others. That's just unfair.

Wrong on the second point too.

There should defo' be a rule on here that states that people should quote people accurately and read what they actually wrote. But, there again, I doubt that you can read.
From your Tesco-related drivel: "I rang Tesco today, and lodged my complaint. Apparently, the customer services manager wanted to know what time I was served and took a description of the cashier. She told me she would be dealt with accordingly."

So you didn't take great joy in passing on the description, knowing someone who you don't think measures up to your unique standards of behaviour is more than likely going to be punished for treating your arsey attitude with the contempt it deserves?

Repeat after me: "MY NAME IS DENNY, I AM A VICTIM"

We've all seen the previous witch hunts which TBH serve no purpose unless it's blatant trolling. This was a case of advice posted and then disagreed with or questioned, leave it as that!. We all know that some people enter this business with a somewhat naive view that it's a zero risk, what expenses can I claim, My god look at my rate appoach. Every day we start with 'can I buy a flat screen Tv for business reasons', or please tell me what VAT is.

I'm sorry, but if you've made the efffort to search for a contractors site and decided that this was all that was required ,then you need the proverbial kick

Denny, I don't usually interfere in petty squabbles or try to moderate with irate interfering busybodies, but for gods sake, shut up and grow up. Enough already
