there is a small term called 'service' and thats what the site is about aswell. its not just about how much you take home its about the advice they give, ability to get hold of who you need, getting paid on time..... so no i think your wrong to just say 'there is no way to differenciate them'' because thats bollocks. ive heard reports that some brollies (not naming) have the worse service in the world..... are you saying that doesnt matter??

i have the expense policy that they sent me and it clearly states

'' We do reccommend that you keep all receipts for evidence just incase you are asked to provide proof to HMRC that you incurred the expense''

nothing missleading about that unless your thick.

Your original post was about the quality of their calculator, no? Not the quality of their service. I don't use them and so cannot comment on this.

Their (your) website clearly states that you can claim when receipts are not obtained based on the number of hours worked.

This IMO is misleading to potential customers. Do you agree?

Wouldn't happen to work for them would you?

Seem to point everyone in their direction and in the direction of "umbrellasupermarket" - Which they seem to be at the top of.

          iam a client.

its goodto help others pick a good brollie. iam a good member to this society.

the topic was side tracked because someone seems to think that umbrella companies can not be differntciated which is poop, as if it was the case then we wouldnt have forums and sites discussing which brollie is the better than the other would we.

The difference between brollies is purely down to the standard of service you get.

As has been stated many times, the rules and regulation that apply to contractors working though umbrella companies are exactly the same - the rules are made by HMRC and and no company has any "deal" with HMRC.

The only variable in the calculation of take home pay is the brolly fee.

Someone - i.e. me - did not say they were not capable of differentiation, but it seems that anyone that tries to do so always picks what percentage of your gross they allow you to keep as the measure. Since none of them can do anything about that beyond dropping their own fees, it's not us that's being thick.

And FWIW I'm perfectly happy with the service I get from my company, which since I own and manage it is not that surprising. And I get to keep more money than any umbrella user.

I've just been on and it seems OK the pay is higher than I'm getting at the moment but I'm not stupid enough to think it's going to be the exact figure I'll get.

I've been looking at a few and some just take my daily rate and that's it!!!

Give me, my take home ????

How do they know my expenses ???

                    Spooky,

I think that 'no-receipts' shouldn't be mentioned on any Umbrella's site, because you always need receipts whether you send them in or not.

But danbro's actual calculator is one of the best in the industry, it is very detailed, though of course you have to take tax code's in consideration and expenses (if you are claiming correctly) will vary from week to week.

I have spoken to about 90 Umbrella companies about 3 times over, and Danbro have never told me to over-claim and asked me what I think I will be spending and didn't do the whole "we have a special HMRC dispensation"

The other companies I found to be very compliance orientated were

                      Atlantic Umbrella
                      Contractor Umbrella
                      Nova
                      D J Colom
