    Havent recieved VAT return

I always used to get my quartley VAT return at least 6 weeks before it was due, however this time it hasnt turned up and its due in a couple of weeks, I rang VAT man and they said you could get the return upto a week before its due cutting it a bit fine. Anyone else see a delay in recieving a return and how soon before it was due did you recieve it ?

Never ever had one turn up less than a month early. Perhaps yours has fallen behind a machine in the local sorting office? I should request a duplicate to be safe

Anyway, not having the form doesn't mean you can't (or shouldn't) pay. If all else fails, send a cheque and covering letter to your VAT office by the due date.

Sign upto VAT online. Takes 3 mins a quarter if that to do.

Nope, shan't. I have a policy of using paper for tax as far as possible. Since HMRC's entire existence is to cost me time, money and grief, I see no need to make their life any easier.

          Thanks for replies

I did ask about doing it online but the HRMC implied I couldnt switch as I was already paper based you could only apply to do online during registration , I will check their site.

This would of been my the VAT return I submitted after my 1st year anniversery of being VAT registered, is there anything else Im supposed to do VAT wise on a yearly basis, I didnt think there was ?

same as me - just range up though and got a replacement through within 4 days.

I blames it on those posties building up a backlog

Pah. You get Your Co to sign upto the government gateway then you can do what you like. Register for VAT Online, PAYE Online (P45s etc) also do year end for PAYE Online - great is you use something like sage as it submits the forms for you.

                    Cheers
                    Richard
