    Contractor for a US company

    Hi,
I have just started a full-time permanent contract with a US company, they have no offices in Europe.
On the contract/agreement I am an independent contractor.
So how should I set up my self? Self employed, sole trader or LTD?

Any tips would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Carlo

Tons of threads on working for US companies.

Use the google search method to have a look at past discussion. Type the following in to Google

    <keywords> Site:contractoruk.com/forums

You can narrow it down to just the business forums which would be better so would look like this.
    USA site:forums.contractoruk.com/business-contracts

and to check accountancy legal type stuff
    USA site:forums.contractoruk.com/accounting-legal/

Then mess with the keywords to get more specific stuff as you find it.

      Hmmm. You have already started?

How do the Americans expect to pay you? How do you expect the Americans to pay you? Those are just two very, very simple questions you should have answered sometime ago, before you started the job.

There are many other questions, but they depend on the answer to those two very fundamental questions.

Then there's considerations such as professional liability insurance for the USA which can be either impossible or extremely expensive if you can find it. And don't for a second consider working without it. And so it goes on.........

Edited to add - First time poster, could be a wind up by a sockie.
