    Am I being impatient?

    Still no signs of my year end from my accountant. I was given a timescale of 4-6 weeks back in mid December. And I'm told it's still ongoing? Ideally I'd like to finish my mortgage application some day (har har har)

    Or at least be able to jump on it as soon as I get another contract lined up...sigh

    Probably. It’s pisses me off how long it takes, and I know it only takes this long as it makes it harder/more expensive to change accountant when you’re well into the next year.

        Tried that, fobbed off. Not that it would help anyway since they've effectively got me by the balls and they know it. Wonder if Maslin's wouldve snagged it by now.

          It might just be my experience but I really don't believe accountants are that vindictive towards their clients.

            It's not out of the ball park that but I'd certainly be mentioning the mortgage and asking if there was anyway to be bumped up the list. I did be pretty dischuffed if there was a valid reason for a hurry up and they couldn't just step up for the one time I needed something a bit quicker. Customers like to be treated well once in a while.

            I'd agree but I would also expect a decent company to just go above and beyond a little if there was a pressing need like the OP's

            All that said its possible, if they are a bigger set up, they've either trimmed their staff or have some on furlough so are under prepared for the busy period. Balancing the quiet times with the busy and just falling short on the busy one.

              I went through something similar in December when I was looking to switch to Nat West. They were helpful and said if I couldn't provide final year they would accept the previous 2 years along with current bank statements. However, Gorilla stepped up and did my final year accounts in a week after asking.

                    There have been times in the past where we've been a bit behind, but lots of our accounts are getting accounts back (drafted & reviewed) within a week of us getting data atm. Even when we were a bit further behind, if a client had a reason for needing them more swiftly, we'd accommodate it.

                    As NLUK said most clients are reasonable and not overly demanding unless they need stuff...so when they do demand something we try our best to accommodate it. Prioritising your work means putting other client work back a bit, so this only works nicely on the basis others without urgency are happy to wait a little bit longer accordingly.
