I've had a discussion with the agency and they have apparently had these updates requested from the client after a review. I'm not sure why they didn't review the contract before I signed it. Will see how they reply with it for now.
Ahhh... so I would guess the agency have amended the contract just to please you without informing the client. It's not uncommon for the contract between the contractor and the agency to not match the upper contract between agency and client or even what the client wants. Agency just want's you to sign so agents do sometimes put anything in you want that doesn't put them at risk.

The location was agreed to be remote. It's a point I made very clear and was agreed to.
Agreed to as in the contract was altered and you signed it with the new wording in? Or agreed to in an email and you signed the doc with the wrong clause? I am assuming from the first comment above that it wasn't altered on the contract? Bad mistake signing something that is not exactly as agreed.
So the contract that has come through has the original location information on it that was on the first one? All other discussions about location have just been in mail?

    Bit confusing all this.

      To clarify:
      - email exchange agreed remote working only
      - contract sent and signed, stating remote only
      - new contract sent out of the blue with update terms
      - queried changes, told just indemnity clause stuff
      - used a pdf diff tool to highlight changes were indemnity stuff and work location
      - pushed back to say don't want to sign it
      - being "gently encouraged to sign"
      - posted here

In the end, I've spoken now to the agency and it's been changed back, so now the only change is the indemnity insurance. All sorted! ?

So exactly what I said - slight change to a template contract with your custom clause missing as they weren't aware of / had forgotten about it.
