MTM IR35 Scheme

Hi,

Is anybody on here a member if the MTM IR35 scheme?

The revenue are currently challenging my tax return for previous years on the scheme and, I am wondering if anybody is going through the same thing.

Also, the recent changes in the budget regarding double tax treaties concern me.

MTM have assured me that all is fine and legal and there is nothing to worry about but, I am not too sure.

I'm familiar with it, but I'm not a member. I'd be interested to know how things work out. Are MTM helping you deal with Revenue?

Yes, MTM as assistance. They say everything is fine but.......not sure if I believe them

Quite common at MTM - had a couple of colleagues who were being investigated - don't know what happened ... will find out ...

Does anybody know what happened with all the other Tax schemes - i.e Castlemaine, the film tax one etc... I know they got shut down but did the people in the scheme have to pay back any tax?

If you don't believe MTM are handling things or worried that they might not be passing on information that would affect your tax liabilities you should contact them and ask to see the correspondence between them and the Revenue.

However, if MTM aren't helpful you could contact the FSA (http://www.fsa.gov.uk) who may be able to intervene.

Your personal tax affairs will always be your personal responsibility. If an agent makes mistakes then you'll end up having to pay for it (although in some cases you could then take legal action against the agent, it would be a long and uncertain process). For this reason you should never feel reluctant to ask your agent about what they're doing or saying on your behalf.

I wonder if fact that mtm montpelier are now offering a different scheme has any bearing on hector investigation. have mtm now abandoned old scheme or r running 2 different schemes. i know a couple of guys who stand to pay over 100k tax + interest + penalties if mtm lose fight with hector.
