Afternoon, I was wondering if anyone here gets paid in Euros.. I am starting a long contract, home based UK but working in Europe, being paid from an agency in Bulgaria that have asked for a VIES VAT number for my Ltd company. I am not even VAT registered in the UK as I operate just below the threshold. Does anyone have experience of this in any way?

Simple. Tell them you are not VAT registered because you are below the U.K. tax threshold. Some countries don’t have thresholds so assume you have a VAT number.
They should probably be accounting for VAT on your services at their end under the reverse charge mechanism anyway, regardless of your VAT registration status.
