    Simple. Tell them you are not VAT registered because you are below the U.K. tax threshold. Some countries don’t have thresholds so assume you have a VAT number.

    They should probably be accounting for VAT on your services at their end under the reverse charge mechanism anyway, regardless of your VAT registration status.

    Afternoon, I was wondering if anyone here gets paid in Euros.. I am starting a long contract, home based UK but working in Europe, being paid from an agency in Bulgaria that have asked for a VIES VAT number for my Ltd company. I am not even VAT registered in the UK as I operate just below the threshold. Does anyone have experience of this in any way?
