Good book on keeping Limited company accounts

Unless you know what you are doing accountancy wise

a) Get a decent accountant
b) Go and look at Simon's free downloads

Seriously the spreadsheet there can be very good for simple limited company accounts - they have developed it from their experience of dealing with contractors! My accountant was really impressed. Surely you have more important things to do with your time than try and learn all about accountancy, and then buy another system to manage it.

That book is to GCSE level - so isn't going to teach you a huge amount anyway

Get an accountant and Finance on a Beermat

This will enable you to stay on the right side of the tax man and your accountant.

It certainly helped me to sleep better of a night...

Of course, if you want Chapter and Verse, Tolley's is the definitive guide. Last time I looked, it was running at around 17 volumes and 400k words.

Get an accountant - they are significantly cheaper in real terms than doing it yourself if you don't know how (and if you can't work that one out, get an accountant...

)
