How long should you wait for your accounts after year end

Don't you need to pay your corporation tax 9 months after your year end? You'll need your accounts done by then so you know how much to pay, also if you don't have the money sitting in your account ready to pay HMRC then you may need time to get the money together as depending on your profit amount it could be a sizeable chunk of money and you don't want any surprises.

I'd be kicking off with them for such a delay, they obviously don't value your business

You really shouldn't need your final accounts to be done in order to calculate your corporation tax. If you have a decent set of management accounts or use an online bookkeeping system you should always know what your CT liability is (barring any oddities like timing differences etc.).

Myco Year End is August. We left our old accountants when we kept having to chase for accounts and would get excuses such as "Lots of our other customers are asking for theirs so you're in a queue" progressing to "we're doing clients personal tax returns now, so we'll get to it in February", through to chasing before April.

We told our new firm this was one of the reasons for changing. We don't expect our accounts back next day, but generally they're with us before the end of September.

However with today's modern software (FreeAgent) your account's can be done within days.

A lot of shilling goes on for FreeAgent. While it might be good it isn't the only solution, you know.
