I tried this in the accountants thread but no replies yet and I need to make a quick decision. These guys seem cheap at £65+VAT. Dos anyone here use them?
Don't know of them but they've been around for a good few years and their financials check out so give it a go but don't just give it a go because they're cheap
A friend is with and is quite happy. Although he seems to bend a lot of expenses rules others wouldn't. No idea whether that's an indication on him or them
I have already trawelled through forum search results but could not find anything of substance.. Just one or two people mentioning they use them and they seem ok.
I guess my question is.. are they cheap for a reason or just a good price for similar service to other accountants? Their website and portal looks good and claims that I will deal with a single qualified accountant.

I'd suggest looking carefully at who you want to be doing your accounts, rather than making a snap decision that you may come to regret.
At that price, I'd question how much work you are going to end up doing yourself.

Ah, this is what I am interested in.. What kind of work might I end up doing myself in such a case? It seems that most accountants packages need you do deal with your own bookeeping. Apart from that they all claim to be very similar. Can you see anything from the accountsnet package which seesm to be missing?

You could ring them and ask them. You should be really having a chat with them to see if you get on with them. If they don't feel right you have your answer.
If they lie to you it will quickly get uncovered if you join so it's highly unlikely.
I think it's time for you to speak to them and make a decision on how you feel. Doesn't look like you are going to get too much feedback.

I can guess from not having a fee increase from my accountant for a few years - VAT calculations, companies house annual filing, your own dividend vouchers, not mucking around with your salary over the year, and not asking loads of questions otherwise the rate will go up next year.
If you are in your first year, know nothing about expenses and don't know personally at least a couple of accountants who deal with small businesses who you can ask odd questions then choose an accountant you know will answer your questions quickly and keep your business entirely legal.

I spoke to them and they sounded like they knew what they were on about to my untrained ears. Also answered my email questions very fast. Its a tough call for a newbie on what to look for.
