You're half right. The FreeAgent founder were freelancers and it is with Freelancers and Contractors at the forefront that it was designed. Yes, any business can use, but freelancers and contractors are also businesses so that would make sense.

Might be. I'm Ltd though. The online platform is good and I think it's a custom one. They are not the cheapest but the service has been very good

Accountant now selected. Thanks for all your suggestions. Went with provider that uses Free Agent in the end.

I'm starting contracting soon with my own Ltd company and need to identify an accountant to use. Narrowed it down to SJD, intouch and Nixon Williams.

Contractor Accountants & SME Accountancy Services | accountsnet - used them for 6 years now. Good online system that's constantly evolving. Always answer emails/calls within the hour. Based up in Scotland but have Manchester office now. I was recommended by a friend of the guy who writes the software they use and have met the owner (Linda) . 65+VAT per month.

The only downside is that they don't give much advice beyond run of the mill accounting issues. But maybe there's other people out there offering more 'wealth planning' orientated info.

For the basics you won't go wrong with them.

I quite like the Intouch portal, it's now just a few minutes' work a month since the ability to upload bank statements is automated pretty well these days.

PM me if you've any questions you don't want to ask on the forum. I'd happily take your referral bonus if you choose to go with IT, but equally I'd recommend them even if you don't refer me
