    Contractor ending a contract early

    Hi,

    I hope you can assist.

I would like to end my contract immediately though I have a 4 weeks notice period.

I don't want to be liable to any contract breach so would it be feasible to give 4 weeks notice and then go sick with a doctors note for that period?

I have never breached a contract before so I just want to understand if I will be liable to anything and if so how I can avoid it.

    Cheers

Sadly enough a couple of people on here think going off sick is an option. Someone will also suggest sending in a sub which isn't possible either as the OP won't be in to do a seamless handover. I'd love to say this is a troll but unfortunately there are plenty of contractors out there with this ridiculous mindset. I do hope if the OP is serious and he does breach his client will decide to sue him/her.

You would be liable for lost revenue from you leaving (if any), costs of project delays, cost to find replacement and also distress and suffering caused to to the agent. And if you breach then no there is no way of getting out of it.

You avoid it by not breaching the contract.

If you need to leave, discuss the situation with the agency / client and see if they will allow you to leave early without any penalty. If not, you serve the notice and work that.

        Good luck.

Oh get back to permiedom FFS. If you havent got the balls to tell the client straight and instead say you're sick, you're not cut out to be contracting.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

Why do you need to leave so quickly?, maybe you can talk to the client and compromise to get away early.

Perhaps the op actually has a doctor's note for something significant? and just phrased the question poor?

Otherwise - go get a job flipping burgers! Professionalism means having integrity. You make us real professionals look bad.

I've seen this done, the muppets last invoice was refused and he was blacklisted by the client for any future roles.

Jeez. Here we go. OP ignore half of these lot.
What they preach on the forum and what they'd do is possibly different.

But seriously, talk to client first off and see if you sort something out.

Why do you want to leave anyway? New gig starting asap?

                    Finally, you're getting it

Listen to PC - ignore those that say "walk or go sick", and try acting like a professional.
