Trouble is, I don't know how you prove you're NOT a mole...though if the argument is as strong as counsel suggests then would it really matter? They already know the thrust of the argument based on the meeting(s) with them and whatever they have gleaned from these forums or being a regular NTRT member...Comment

Closure Notices
Originally posted by DonkeyRhubarb View PostClosure Notices
Some people are struggling to locate their closure notices amongst all their other HMRC bumf.
What to look for:
1) the documents would be dated after August 2008; the vast majority would have been issued in 2008 & 2009
2) there will probably be 2 pages plus a statement for each tax year
3) they may be headed Section 28A(1) & 2 Taxes Management Act 1970
4) they will make an amendment to your self-assessment
5) they will set out your right to appeal
6) they will give 30 days to pay or appeal
6) Montpelier, deGraaf or whoever would have appealed these on your behalf
Hope this helps

Closure Notices & HMRC

Originally posted by Kevthered View PostThanks DR, I am currently looking for Closure notices, I have literally hundreds of boxes in my loft (knew I should've labelled all boxes up properly!!), However I do have an SA Statement of Account from late 2013 which show amounts currently under appeal for various tax years. Would this be acceptable whilst I continue my soul destroying hunt for the elusive CN's?
Another stop gap would be statements from HMRC on-line.
