When you phone up, you can't ask/demand to speak to an actual accountant?

No there is a barrier, even when an accountant emails you it's through their generic customer services address so when you reply it's another month of waiting. However you do get a auto response within 2 seconds.

I decided I am going to move accountants, any recommendations?

I'm still very happy with InTouch. As well as the normal stuff - online portal, very on time with returns and so on (as well as reminding you to do it) - I've always had excellent personal service when I have a specific question like "what does this think on my return mean" or "can you provide me a set of accounts for the year to date" (not needed now as the portal does this automatically) or whatever. I've always had a named lead accountant who I can contact directly - mine was Clare and is now Louisa. Lesser employees contact you with more routine stuff but the main person is always available if you need them... yesterday I emailed asking for a piece of paperwork to support a mortgage application and got it back within a couple of hours.

So I'd strongly recommend them. If you want to give me a referral I'll take it, but I'd recommend them either way.

I decided to go with Maslins, I want to use FreeAgent but with the back up of an accountant, and they are 50 quid cheaper than Brokesonofaguns.

              Good choice I reckon.

Bit strange that you asked for a recommendation, received one, then ignored it though.

No I wouldn't. I try an advocate the search method as shown in the FAQ section. The search box is next to useless.
