NIN mandatory to create a Limited Company?

I'm moving from permanent employment to contracting, after getting an offer for a 6 month contract in the UK.
I just moved to UK this week and applied for a National Insurance Number (NIN) yesterday but it can take a few weeks now to get my final NIN.

In the meanwhile I would like to create my limited company. Is NIN required for it or can I create the company before having my final NIN?

    Thanks in advance.

    Edited: add NIN meaning.

No NINO is required for forming a limited company but said limited company will need one to employ you.

Jesus christ. Just how many more people are our Governments going to allow to come here, give them a NINO, residency, create a company et al and take work from British nationals?

            Calm.

If you have an EU passport you can come and work here.

Regardless some like it but only put up with it for 5-7 years, some hate it and leave asap to go to another country or home, and some marry someone who is British so never leave.

I know people who fall into all these categories. The majority fall into the first category.

If xenophobia is going to be tolerated on the forums, shouldn't it at least be kept to General, rather than polluting the Professional areas?

Yep. In any case, it works both ways, and many of us have benefited from working overseas.

It was Sunday, and some of us have real lives at the weekend

No, this is not acceptable in the Professional forums, and as soon as I get to a proper computer I'll sort it.

Please keep your debate to General BB.

You do not need a NINO to form the limited company. You will need an NINO in order to register the company for PAYE, but for VAT you can use a UTR from your country of origin to get registered. On that basis, you should be able to get going straight away!

                    Hope this helps!
