If you're recharging the expense. Of course. Didn't I say that already?

The point is the client reclaims the VAT you charge them, not the VAT (if any) the supplier charged. And the only need your invoice as evidence to reclaim the VAT.

But did you give them a VAT number when the supply was made? If not, how would they know?

You can persist with this all you want. Threaten to report them to HMRC if you like. You probably won't get anywhere.

It's also a possibility that they use the Tour Operators Margin Scheme in which case they can't issue you a VAT invoice.

Please advise how I can buy a ticket online from flybe and give them my vat details as part of the transaction.

There isn't they are zero rated and Zero rated purchases do not require a VAT receipt which is what the first 20 posts are about.

suity then revealed that he also book his car parking through flybe on the same purchase. Now that has VAT on it, but if they use a scheme such as the Tour Operators Margin Scheme they won't be paying VAT in the standard way so will not be able to provide a receipt easily.

Suity of course doesn't read beyond the first paragraph of anything so merely took the first generalized statement as total and utter fact....

Yout ticket receipt should state that there is no VAT charged on air travel which should suffice as this shows:

What is Flybe's VAT registration number?

and if you don't have one then:

How do I obtain a receipt for my booking?
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

OK listen. Some sound advice on here. Thank you for your time.

Suity threads have a tendency to become the hunted versus the hunters. Do you really have to be so mean? This is why I default to being the hunted and get defensive.

This is a real business problem, which I blundered into unawares. If you want to give me a shoeing, please do it in General where it feels comfy.

Thanks again for all the advice, it was most welcome.
