Run a Seychelles company from the UK?

    Hi,

Ive read on several places online that a foreigner could open and run for example a Seychelles company
from the UK up to 7 years. At the same time ive read that this sort of company structure has to be
managed from outside of the UK by a nominee director.

But "people" have also told me that you can actually manage and run the company
by yourself from the UK. Do anyone knows how this works? Can I as a Swedish citizen live in the UK
and run a company with all the benefits like no accounting or taxes / VAT, from a Seychelles company?

And if so, how complex / expensive is this to set up?

    Thanks!

      No.

The rule is for foreign companies that do business in the foreign country.

A Seychelles company can't do business in the UK.

If you had a shop in the Seychelles then that might be tax free.

You have to set up a UK company.
      I'm alright Jack

        Yes.

But I'm not sure who will do business with you in the EU, or what the legal penalties will be if you do manage to get the business of the ground.

You can set up a structure using a Trust, but the genuine management and control would need to take place outside the UK. You'd also no doubt have a whole host of problems with UK suppliers and agencies. If it's something you're really interested in them you need specialist legal and tax advice from the start.

Even if you manage to get the company setup legally setup, agencies/clients require a England&Wales registered ltd. in order to sign the contract. Which makes the entire exercise futile.

If this is being done just to avoid UK taxes, its the most bizarre method I have seen someone come up with. Up there with those dodgy schemes.

Lets see, Sweden has highest taxation rate in the world, so to avoid that

Reside in UK >> Work in UK >> Bill through a company in a 0 tax country. 100% profits!

Of course a Seychellois company can operate in the UK. It is no problem whatsoever.

The only minor issue is that it will gain UK residence and be treated exactly the same as a UK one in the situation you describe.

You might like to research what happened to Robert Gaines Cooper. This gives some idea of the issues that might need clarification with HMRC. And of course helives in the Seychelles and has done for very many years.
