I was responding to something someone else said about the attitude to Poles in the UK. If you join in that conversation then you are, ipso facto, talking about Poles.

This is a stupidly big number. ~ 1% population change from immigration. In a decade that is 10% so in 2024 then 20% of our population could be a minority of some form, most of it in the south east. What will that do for social cohesion? These kinds of percentages create dissatisfied groups that cause trouble.

These are the questions that need answering not brushed under the carpet with platitudes about the Polish being jolly nice chaps, which in reality the vast majority I have met have turned out to be.

No if I point out the flaw in your argument using your argument then it doesn't mean my opinions are the same as someone else that disagrees with you. It strikes me you are being emotional rather than logical.

You seem to have completely missed my point, which was made in response to a specific comment about the attitude of the British press to Polish people, and just to be clear was that the current attitude to Polish people is somewhat confusing given our shared history. I'm not sure what flaw in what argument it is you feel you've pointed out exactly but I'm fairly certain it's not an argument I was actually making.

My pointing out that you didn't realise what you were talking about when you clearly didn't is a statement of fact, not an insult BTW.

the poles make very good contributions to the UK. very good. very good attitude to work indeed. very good contribution to GDP - that is fact. can't be argued. however, puts stress on limited public resources. so either our goal is growth and GDP figures or GDH (happiness)?
