    Elan want Bank Statements?

This day and age of ID Theft and Elan as a requirement to put me forward want my bank statements and sufficient ID documents that could gain access to that account.

Needless to say I have applied via someone else. I am happy to give proof of ID/Insurance but draw the line at bank statements. Would you give out your financial details so freely to someone you have never met?

I think every job board has a warning never to give such information away.

Have you asked why they want them and what legal backing they have to request them?

Yes I have asked, the recruiter was unable to answer but promises that someone will call me later to explain.

What a joke!! I would tell them that they have got to be joking. It should be more than enough to send copies of certificates of incorporation etc. once an offer has been made.

You should have said to them that you require copies of Elan's bank statements, and the pimp's statements you were dealing with for you to verify that someone has not stolen their identity. See what they would have said to that?!!!
It's about time I changed this sig...

I would never hand out my companies finances to pimps, they have no reason to see them.

If they are doing it for money laundering procedures, (which sounds bloody odd) then they need a proof of id and address. Your drivers licence should be enough. Otherwise passport and utility bill if you don’t want to give out a bank statement.

Elan have backtracked and no longer require bank statements - but a blank cheque would do nicely

I just find this unbelievable. Jobserve have requested I forward any emails to them as they are concerned about this type of request.

Send them a paying in slip instead

Elan's last word is everyone else is breaking the law by not asking me for bank documentation.

Ah, the last line of defence of an agency.

Up there with "everyone else has signed our contracts..." and "no-one else is insisting on opting in..."

                    Tell them to do one.
