They asked me as well, they do say you can disguise any account info you don't want them to see.

They just want to see that your company has a proper business account, I was on a gig where Elan took over some contractors from another agency, 2 or 3 of them couldn't provide this when it came to issuing new contracts as well as insurance docs... not everyone is a squeaky clean as you might think.

On another note I was just talking to an agent who said the client (retail) was insisting on SC clearance? The agent wasn’t list X and the client has no grounds to ask for it, turns out the client thought SC cleared people would be more trust worthy.... I've heard it all now.

They do not need the bank statement to do this though - and to ask for a blank cheque was just stupid

All they need when it comes to payment is an account name, sort-code, and bank name. The sort-code tells you where the branch is. To submit all ID and bank details would be totally irresponsible. The company bank advises not to do this and as they say in this instance they would not be liable to re-imburse any theft from the account in the case of ID theft.

To be perfectly honest if they are that worried they can go to the companies house website and pay for a web check with all the details. They don't need anything from you apart from your company name, they are just too lazy to check it all out for themselves. As for the has your business got a valid bank account thing....

Like I said they just want to see your company name associated with a bona fied business account, a sort code and account number could be just a personal account.

I'm sorry, what business is it of my customer how or who I do my banking with? Is there any liability placed on them if I am not doing it correctly?

They get my account number, sortcode and bank name so they can pay my invoice. That's it...

                      Older and ...well, just older!!
