I suppose, but I just do cash for pensions and apparently with rates so low a cash-based SIPP is actually worse than regular savings right now. If savings rates do go negative I might just invest in a safe instead...Originally posted by DallasDad View PostEveryone's interested in saving (tax) money though
Isas' are long term investments so bear in mind you can often invest in exactly the same fund through a Sipp as you would in an ISA but via the Sipp you get your income tax back as wellComment

There are very limited circumstances where transfer of a defined benefit scheme to a money purchase one may be in you interests. It will invole the boosting of the fund value condiderably because the actuarial value of db funds is always low.Originally posted by Fred Bloggs View PostFree, good advice - If anyone advises you to transfer a deferred final salary pension, then immediately find a new adviser.
the chance of this happening in a regular transfer is nil.
the chance of it happening when a company closes their db scheme is marginally better.Comment
