      I suppose, but I just do cash for pensions and apparently with rates so low a cash-based SIPP is actually worse than regular savings right now. If savings rates do go negative I might just invest in a safe instead...

        There are very limited circumstances where transfer of a defined benefit scheme to a money purchase one may be in you interests. It will invole the boosting of the fund value condiderably because the actuarial value of db funds is always low.

        the chance of this happening in a regular transfer is nil.

        the chance of it happening when a company closes their db scheme is marginally better.
